About Us

Asian American Advocacy Clinic (AAAC) was founded in 2012 with a goal of providing legal assistance to members of the Asian and Pacific Islander community in Nevada. We are the first and only, Asian and Pacific Islander legal aid organization in Nevada.

Mission Statement

To increase access to the legal system, champion Asian Advocacy, and increase education and support services to low income, linguistically and/or culturally marginalized communities.

Vatana Lay | Treasurer

Linda Lay | Secretary

Linda Lay has been in the legal field for thirteen (13) years, starting off as a legal assistant and now a seven (7) year practicing attorney.  She is licensed in both California and Nevada and is currently at the law firm Hurtik Law & Associates.  She predominantly does family law, real estate litigation, bankruptcy and personal injury.  Linda has been a board member for AAAC for the last two (2) years, serving as the secretary.  Linda has been a member of the Inns of Court, Section Leader for the Southern Nevada Young Lawyers for the Veterans Affair and participated in the Goldilocks program where she went to elementary schools to teach about the legal issues in the story of Goldilocks through the Young Lawyers program.  Linda has been a CAP pro-bono attorney through Legal Aid of Southern Nevada and has led the Wills & Trust event through Nevada Legal Services for two (2) years in conjunction with the Young Lawyers group. During her free time, she enjoys reading, walking her dog – Yogi, and running.  She has two young children who push her to be a better attorney everyday because she wants to set an example for her kids.  

Tin Hwang | Director-At-Large

A lifelong Las Vegas, Nevada resident, Tin is a first generation Chinese-American with her family roots extending from Taipei and Tainan, Taiwan. Previously, Tin served as the Special Legal Advocate for this organization for nearly three years. She received her law degree from the University of Nevada Las Vegas, William S. Boyd School of Law.

Lawrence C. Hill | Director-At-Large

Larry practices in the area of personal injury, criminal defense, and immigration. He has been recognized as one of the Silver State’s Top Attorneys, maintains an AV Preeminent Rating with Martindale-Hubbell, and was named Super Lawyers – Rising Stars of Mountain States for 2015 – 2020

Michael Hua | Special Legal Advocate (SLA)

Michael Hua has been working the legal field since 2010. Since then, He’s had positive experiences in complex litigation for Fortune 500 companies, insurance defense, criminal prosecution, vehicular crimes, capital murder, insurance bad faith, and personal injury. He is a Las Vegas Native and received his undergraduate degree in 3 years. He received his law degree from the UNLV William S. Boyd School of Law and was a member of the Nevada Law Journal, Nevada’s flagship law review. In his free time, he likes to spend time playing sports, working out, and practicing yoga. He also enjoys taking his dog to the park, Red Rock Canyon, and Mt. Charleston on weekends.

Waleed ” Wally” Zaman | (Former) Special Legal Advocate (SLA)

Waleed “Wally” Zaman was born and raised in San Jose, CA, where he lived until moving to Las Vegas, NV, to complete High School. After graduating High School at age 16, Waleed spent time working with a local debate team, both to develop and hone his public-speaking skills, and to help incoming high-school students learn the basics of argument and rhetoric. Waleed then attended UNLV, before transferring to Texas A&M, in which he completed his college education, and obtained a bachelors of Business Administration in Finance. One year later, Waleed moved back to Las Vegas, where he attended Boyd School of Law. Afterwards, Waleed spent two years clerking for a civil law firm. Waleed has significant writing experience, including drafting appellate briefs that have been heard for oral argument in the NV Court of Appeals. Waleed Zaman, Esq. has handled more than one dozen state appeals for felony convictions. After being admitted to practice law, Waleed worked diligently as an associate attorney. Waleed is also fluent in conversational Spanish, which he learned by listening to Spanish music while working at a Hispanic supermarket for seven years.
